Atari caught out in GPL license violations on several Wii titles

Having had a run in with the big N in the past we know more then many about software licensing, it seems that contractors working on behalf of Majesco Entertainment and Atari, decided that rather then porting several games across to the Wii they would instead use openly available emulator source code to complete their commercial games releases.

Update: SNES Cart reader gets a name - snega2usb

Investigating further into the SNES USB cart reader, I found that Matthias H now has a website and a name for his project, snega2usb (URGH), I don't know about you but I'm going to watch this project closely.

Welcome, stranger. This is the new (and only) official information source for my little SNES/Genesis USB reader project. After getting so much buzz on Hackaday, YouTube, Engadget and Gizmodo and many other places, I decided to give this little project a name, snega2usb (feel free to come up with something a bit catchier), and its own website. I may keep on spreading a few comments here and there, but this will be the official channel.

USB reader for SNES game carts

A good friend of mine sent me this link to a home built SNES USB cart reader, this looks really great I'd love to be able to get in contact with the original creator and see what we can dig up.

Watch the Embedded video below, it's awesome. If the original author wants to get in touch with me, please do :).

PK201 is a Sony PocketStation emulator for Windows. Information is a bit thin on the ground for this one I'm afraid :S.

  2. rip the Flash ROM image from your own real PocketStation and rename it to "FROM".
  3. put "PK201.EXE", "KROM" and "FROM" in the same folder.

ZX Spectrum 4 a ZX Spectrum Emulator for Windows Updated

A very interesting Emulator this one, goes some way to emulating loading of tapes on the 16 and 48k models of the Speccy. Now you can watch your computer pop and fizz for 10 minutes before being presented with Manic Miner, just like the old days.

nsnes v0.047 a multiplatform Super Nintendo Emulator Released

I've not tried this Cross Platform Super Nintendo Emulator but it looks promising, there's a huge change-list which is included in it's entirety after the jump.

Quote:
The most notable feature for this release is the addition of SuperFX support. This enables an additional eight commercial games, and two unreleased betas, to run with full support. Most notably of these would be Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Starfox. Though timing is not quite perfect just yet, there should be no known issues with any titles at the time of this release. That means there should only be two official, commercially-released titles that are not compatible with bsnes at this time: Quick-move Shogi Match with Nidan Rank-holder Morita 1 and 2 (using the ST011 and ST018 co-processors, respectively.)

Windows PCEngine emulator Ootake 2.13 Released

  • The drawing processing part was sped up. I think that processing lightened in some measure in a not fast personal computer environment.
  • “Save to [screenshot] Folder” was added to “File->Setting of Screenshot” menu. When this is selected (default), the screenshot is preserved without putting out the save dialog.
