I'd left the site for ages after various server shenanigans but having just reclaimed the dns for the domain and moved it onto a new provider it's meant I've been able to get the site back up and running.
Thought it might be quite nice to get it going again but go so far before several people messaged me on the nesdev forums, so I thought why not, doesn't take me long to put drupal sites together as it's what I do for a living. Cherryroms has always been a very popular site because of the downloads but there is still loads of stuff we can talk about on here without having to do downloads which was my main concern.
I've managed to salvage all the screenshots too which is something not really available on other sites, I'll make sure all this stuff goes up
, just need some time to get it all together.
I just googled at at random, out of curiosity.
Man, the sheer nostalgia of this place. It's one of the first websites I visited frequently, ever. I lurked on the forums a bit, but didn't post much of anything. I don't even remember what my username was.
Great to see you're back !
I've got some fond memories of the good old Cherryroms of yore

I need your help by the no claim and the no return.
Oh wow! i didn't even know cherryroms was dead, i just did a random google search of where i used to get mah roms....can't wait till it's back up and running ^_^
I just so happened to have been wanting to find an archive of the forums. Lo and behold, not only an archive that is up-to-date (according to the wayback machine), but also open for posting. A bit rough around the edges atm, but at least we again have access to the old gems that were otherwise lost.
Thank you for bringing these forums back to life.

Hey, you tricked me!
I'm amazed that the old database is still in-tact. How the hell did you manage that?
Welcome back, and all that jazz! Or something.

I don't know what's crazier: this forum returning or returning to this forum. For some reason I felt like checking Cherryroms on Google, and when it showed up, I thought for sure that clicking on it would just bring up some form of white screen. That is great that you've gotten the site back up, Recoil. I don't know if I'll have the time to post here like I did back in its prime, but I have to tip my hat to the community. I wonder if and when anyone else will show up...
Oh wait a minute... Cherryroms is back? I just happened to google it moments ago.
Nice to see you all here again.
Oh, crap! Look out for our unknown...er uh...I don't know what it is!
BTW... GardenIguana is back!
Wow, I just tried the site for the first time in ages. I never expected this to return from the dead, thought it was gone for good. It's wild to see the old forum-goers returning.
And the database! I'm absolutely amazed that you still had a copy.
This is crazy... I google my old handle for shits and giggles, and find that Cherryroms is still active? How... unexpected. Glad to see everyone again, and hope the last few years have been good to you all.

Yeah, it sure has been a long time! I've been checking in on this site every couple months to see if it would ever come back, and the wayback machine was the only hope that I saw. Nice to see the database restored. Let's get this place happening again!
I wonder if I have my old icon kicking around somewhere. Is it scary that upon brief reflection, I can recall it was from a Wonderful Day's calendar shot?
I don't know who I should be thanking - my buddy for getting me to stamp Twitter with ElvenAssassin, or Ghid for finding me on it.
Finding out you brought the forums back makes me all warm and fuzzy inside

Got to be honest - I only came here originally for Tales of Phantasia and South Park episodes. What a great place it turned out to be. The hundreds of posts arguing about the best SNES RPGs. Good checksums, #rareroms, fan translations oh and the controversial figures from the forums. Good times as always.
Seems rather bizzare how now how the complete SNES romset is only a torrent away, hand in hand with a modded xbox and you can enjoy the best of the 16bit era in the comfort of your living room.
Not a huge amount of time for games nowadays however. Phoenix Wright was the last game I really enjoyed. Mega man 9 - what a crackin' title. Most stuff just seems like a right chore to play however.
Gotta be honest I'm curious how everyone seemed to come across the recent activity on the site. I just happened to look at the domain to see if it was still owned. What made you bring cherryroms back from the dead Recoil?
Oh and a bit of nostalgia to get the ball rolling while I'm here
