Spotify is great and gives me a warm feeling inside

I've felt compelled to discuss this item. I think I must've been living with my head in the sand for the past few months. I was around a friends house a couple of days ago who kindly pointed out this gem of a program.

Spotify is a legal music streaming app which has over 6 million tracks. Sure there are a few artists missing, but the breadth of their library is shocking to put it mildly. You can either search by artist, queue up their entire discotography in a couple of clicks or you can set radio going which will pick tracks for you based on genre and/or era.

There are several other options that allow you to record you favourite playlists and share them with friends.

From what I've read, they make money from advertising in the form of banners on the client and short breaks in music. It really is non-intrusive. Should you happen to find these annoying (which is hard to imagine), there are very reasonable ways to remove these restrictions through daily and monthy payments.

My only reservations for it is how they can make it profitable. It really is an outstanding product and I hope it does catch on in a real way. Talk about making illegal music downloading a chore.

Anyone else hopped on this crazy bandwagen yet?

Grr

I've been using finetune for some time, would you consider them comparable, or is spotify much superior?

And I'd like the man is friendly wise and crazy fun, don't like the gentleman of Methos!

It's not too bad, I haven't

It's not too bad, I haven't found a HUGE amount of music on there I really wanted to listen to, although you do get great control over your playlist and such, it's a shame Last.fm doesn't give you more of that control really.

Spotify is definitely one to try (if it's available in your area) with it being ad supported you've really nothing to lose.
